Swedish Rye Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. water
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. molasses
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. sifted rye flour
4 c. white flour
1 pkg. yeast
2 tsp. Crisco
Preparation

Heat water.
Melt sugar, salt, molasses and Crisco.
Add yeast to mixture when mixture is lukewarm.
(Too hot will kill yeast.) Add rye and white flour.
Knead until dough does not stick to board or
hands.
Put in pan and let rise to double in size. Knead down and divide into thirds.
Shape into loaves and let rise to double in size, then bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
Cool on rack so air can circulate around bread.
Raisins can be added if you choose.
This bread has a strong molasses rye flavor.
It does not rise very high so don't expect a huge loaf.
