Lime Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. cucumbers
    2 lb. sugar
    lime (builders)
    3 pt. vinegar
    1 tsp. each: cloves, ginger, allspice, celery seed, mace and cinnamon
Preparation
    Soak the cucumbers after slicing in thin slices in a mixture of 1 1/2 cups lime to 1 gallon water, making enough to cover the cucumbers.
    Let them soak on lime mixture overnight.
    Drain and soak for 5 hours in fresh water, changing hourly.
    Make a syrup of the sugar, vinegar and spices and bring to a boil.
    After changing the water for the last time, pour the syrup over the cucumbers and let stand overnight, then boil for 1 hour and seal in jars.
