Sugar Plum - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk, scalded
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    2 cakes yeast
    1/4 c. lukewarm water
    3 c. flour
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs, beaten
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 c. flour
    1/2 c. chopped candied cherries
    1 c. chopped citron
    1 1/2 c. raisins
Preparation
    Combine milk, sugar and salt.
    Cool.
    Add yeast to warm water. Add 3 cups flour and beat.
    Cream shortening, sugar, beaten eggs, nutmeg and vanilla.
    Add to sponge mixture and beat.
    Add remaining ingredients.
