Ingredients

1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup vinegar
1 can or 2 1/2 cups cooked beets
1 Tbsp butter or salad oil
salt and pepper to taste
Preparation

Mix sugar and cornstarch.
Add water and vinegar.
Boil 5 minutes. Drain beets and add to sugar mixture.
Cook slowly, stirring occasionally until beets are heated.
Add butter.
Salt and pepper, if desired.
