Oatmeal Spice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. water
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 well beaten eggs
    1 1/3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. oats
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Boil water and pour over oats.
    Let stand 20 minutes.
    Combine sugar, eggs and shortening, mixing well.
    In separate bowl combine dry ingredients.
    Add oat mixture to sugar mixture.
    Fold in dry ingredients and pour into greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
    Cake may be served with icing or whipped cream, but is good enough just by itself!
