Butterhorns - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 3/4 c. flour
1 pkg. yeast
1 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 tsp. salt
3 eggs
Preparation

Combine 2 1/2 cups flour and yeast.
Heat milk, sugar, shortening and salt until warm (115\u00b0 to 120\u00b0), stirring constantly until shortening almost melts.
Add to dry mixture; add eggs. Beat at low speed for 1/2 minute.
Beat at high speed for 3 minutes.
By hand, stir in 2 to 2 1/4 cups flour.
Knead for 5 to 8 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Put in a greased bowl to rise.
Cover; let rise until double (about 2 1/4 hours).
Punch down.
Divide in thirds.
Let rest 10 minutes.
Roll into a 12-inch circle.
Brush with butter or margarine.
Cut in 12 wedges and roll into crescent shape.
Let rise 1 hour.
Bake in 400\u00b0 oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
