Spiced Peaches - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    2 c. cider vinegar
    1 c. water
    1 Tbsp. whole allspice
    1 Tbsp. whole cloves
    4 (3-inch) sticks cinnamon
    4 lb. (16 medium) peaches
Preparation
    Mix sugar, vinegar and water in 5-quart pan.
    Tie allspice and cloves in cheesecloth. Put this and cinnamon into mixture.
    Cover and boil 5 minutes.
    Peel peaches; drop into boiling syrup a few at a time.
    Simmer until tender, about 5 minutes.
    Pack in sterile jars.
    Cover with syrup.
    Seal.
    Yields 2 quarts.
