Pickled Red Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 large red onions, very thinly sliced
    1 c. tarragon red wine vinegar
    1 tsp. sugar
    3 whole cloves
    4 black peppercorns, crushed
Preparation
    Place onions in a saucepan with the vinegar and enough cold water (about 1 cup) to cover.
    Add sugar, cloves and peppercorns. Simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes or until the onions are tender.
    Refrigerate until ready to serve.
