Apple Brown Betty - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. coarse fresh bread crumbs
    1/2 c. butter, melted
    4 apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
    1/3 c. brown sugar
    1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
    1 tsp. ground ginger
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    3 Tbsp. dry sherry (optional)
    whipping cream (for serving, optional)
Preparation
    Heat oven to 375\u00b0. Lightly butter a 2-quart casserole or baking dish.
    Stir together bread crumbs and butter.
    Set aside.
