Apple Ring Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cucumbers (approx. 2 gal.)
    2 c. lime
    1 small bottle red food coloring
    1 Tbsp. alum
    1 c. apple cider vinegar
    5 c. water
    5 c. apple cider vinegar
    11 1/2 oz. pkg. red hots
    11 1/2 c. sugar
    8 cinnamon sticks
    3 c. sugar
Preparation
    Peel big cucumbers (too big for anything else).
    Slice thick enough to make a good ring.
    Cut out the centers.
    This will be about 2 gallons of cucumbers.
    Place slices in a stone container, sprinkle 2 cups of lime over them, add enough water to cover and let stand 24 hours.
    Drain and wash well, cover with ice; let stand 3 hours.
