Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. butter flavor
1 oz. (two 1/2 oz. bottles) red food color
3 Tbsp. (level) cocoa
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. soda
Preparation

Cream shortening, sugar, salt, eggs and flavors.
Make a paste of cocoa and food coloring.
Add to first mixture.
Alternately add flour and buttermilk.
Mix soda and vinegar in a small bowl; add to batter.
Blend.
Bake in three 8 or 9-inch pans that have been greased and floured.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 350\u00b0 or until tests done.
Let cool completely.
Cover with frosting.
