Butter Chews - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3/4 c. soft butter
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
3 eggs, separated
2 1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 c. nuts, chopped
3/4 c. coconut
confectioners sugar
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Blend in flour.
Pat into bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry, and set aside.
Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored.
Stir in brown sugar, nuts and coconut. Fold in egg whites and put over first mixture.
Return to oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
Cool and dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
