Firehouse Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 large Spanish onions
    1 c. ketchup
    1 1/4 lb. stick butter or margarine
Preparation
    Thinly slice the onions and place them in a saucepan.
    Cover with water and add butter or margarine.
    Simmer until onions are soft.
    Just before serving, add the ketchup and mix well.
    Heat a few minutes and serve.
