Old-Time Ginger And Molasses Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. molasses
    1 egg, beaten
    1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
    1/4 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. ginger
Preparation
    Mix boiling water and shortening.
    Add sugar, molasses and egg.
    Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture.
    Pour into an 8-inch square pan, greased and floured.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
    May top with whipped cream.
