My Favorite Barbecue Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. brown sugar
    1/4 c. cider vinegar
    2/3 c. ketchup
    1/3 c. water
    2 Tbsp. soy sauce
    2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1 Tbsp. prepared yellow mustard
    1 medium onion, finely chopped
    6 very thin slices lemon
    1/4 c. salad oil
    2 Tbsp. liquid smoke
    1/4 tsp. coarsely ground pepper
    1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients together and simmer slowly for about 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
    Especially good as a basting sauce for beef, pork and poultry when cooking on the grill.
    Yields 2 1/2 cups.
    Any left over keeps very well in refrigerator.
