Cake Donuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    4 Tbsp. shortening, melted
    2 eggs
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    4 c. flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation
    Gradually add sugar to eggs, beating well after each addition. Beat in shortening.
    Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
    Combine milk and flavoring.
    Add dry ingredients to sugar mixture alternately with milk mixture.
    Mix well after each addition.
    Chill dough.
    Turn out on floured pastry cloth and knead 3 to 4 times to form ball.
    Cut in half.
    Roll each half 1/3 inch thick.
    Cut donuts.
    Allow to stand 5 to 10 minutes.
    Fry in deep fat.
    Makes approximately 30 donuts.
