White Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 egg whites
3 1/2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening (Crisco)
2 c. white sugar
2 Tbsp. boiling water
1 1/2 c. cold water
1/4 tsp. almond flavoring
1 tsp. vanilla or lemon flavoring
Preparation

Beat egg whites until stiff (set aside).
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Mix shortening with white sugar and add boiling water.
Alternate this with flour mixture and cold water. Add flavorings.
Fold in egg whites.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes. Makes 2 (8-inch or two 9-inch) cake layers.
