Scottish Shortbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soft butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix butter and sugar with a fork.
    Add vanilla and a little of the flour.
    Turn on board and work the rest of flour in with hands.
    Break off small piece at a time and roll into a ball. Place balls 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
    Flatten with bottom of a glass.
    Bake in a 250\u00b0 oven for 50 to 60 minutes. Will be very light in color.
    Let cool completely.
    Store in airtight containers.
