Christmas Nut Roll - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 pkg. chopped dates
    2 small bags vanilla wafers
    1 box raisins
    1 box currants
    1 qt. chopped pecans
    1 pt. candied fruit and peels
    1 small container candied cherries
    2 large cans sweetened condensed milk
    coconut (not flaked)
Preparation
    Crush cookies to a fine crumb; add other ingredients, one at a time, stirring well.
    Save cherries to decorate top and coconut to roll cake in after it is well mixed.
    Make at least a week before serving so it will slice well.
    Wrap in foil and put in refrigerator.
