Fruit Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. fruit (may use peaches, nectarines, blueberries, blackberries or Florida sliced pears, home canned or frozen)
    1 stick butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. milk
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    Fill 13 x 9-inch baking pan 1/2 full with fruit.
    In a large bowl, cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar.
    Add milk, mixing together. Stir in flour, baking powder, vanilla and salt (if not using self-rising flour).
    Mix well and pour over fruit.
    In a small bowl, mix 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water; pour over batter.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
