Marinara Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. olive or salad oil
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 large garlic clove, minced
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil or 2 tsp. dried basil
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste

    minutes before serving:
    In 2 quart saucepan over medium-low heat, in hot olive oil, cook onion and garlic until tender,
    stirring
    occasionally.
    Stir in sugar, basil, salt, tomatoes
    with
    their
    liquid
    and\ttomato\tpaste; heat mixture to\tboiling,
    stirring
    to break up tomatoes.
    Reduce heat\tto low,
    cover
    saucepan and simmer 20 minutes to blend flavors, stirring occasionally.
