Portuguese Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. onion, chopped
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    1 can tomatoes
    1/2 lb. hamburger
    4 oz. ham, chopped
    2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    2 qt. water
    1/4 head cabbage, shredded
    1 c. noodles (fideo)
    1/2 tsp. basil
    1/2 tsp. thyme
Preparation
    In a large pot, put the first 8 ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and boil for an additional 3 minutes.
