Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. baking soda
    5 eggs, separated
    2 c. sugar
    1 stick oleo
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. coconut
Preparation
    Combine soda and buttermilk.
    Set aside for a few minutes. Beat egg whites stiff.
    Cream together sugar, oleo and shortening. Add egg yolks, one at a time.
    Beat well after each.
    Add buttermilk and soda mixture alternately with flour to creamed mixture.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Fold in egg whites gently.
    Then add nuts and coconut.
