Date Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. dates, cut up
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. soda
1/2 c. butter or oleo
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. nutmeats

Preparation

Mix first 3 ingredients.
Let stand until cool.
Cream butter and sugar.
Add egg, cooled date mixture, flour and nutmeats. Bake in 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan about 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
