Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sweetened applesauce
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. fruit mix
1 lb. dates, chopped
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. brandy or dark (grape) fruit juice

Preparation

Mix all the ingredients together in order given.
Sometimes I soak the fruit mix in brandy overnight...this is not necessary.
