Green Tomato Conserve - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 whole lemons
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. water
    3 lb. green tomatoes
    6 c. sugar
Preparation
    Cut lemons in thin slices.
    Simmer in the salt and water for 5 minutes.
    Add tomatoes, cut in chunks, and sugar.
    Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until sugar dissolves.
    Simmer 1 hour or until thickened.
    Pour into sterilized jelly glasses and seal with a layer of paraffin.
    Yields approximately 1 1/2 quarts.
