Crisp Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    9 lb. (acme paper bag full) cucumbers, sliced 1/8-inch thick
    2 gal. cold water
    3 1/4 c. hydrated pickling lime
    2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. turmeric
    2 qt. vinegar (cider)
    11 c. sugar
    1 box pickling spice, tied in cheesecloth
Preparation
    Soak cucumbers in lime water 8 hours or overnight.
    Drain and rinse in cold water several times.
