Chow Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 gal. chopped cabbage
    12 onions, chopped
    12 bell peppers
    5 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. ground mustard
    1 Tbsp. turmeric
    1 Tbsp. ginger
    3 Tbsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. spices
    2 qt. vinegar
Preparation
    Mix all vegetables with 1/2 cup salt.
    Let stand overnight. Drain.
    Put spices into a bag.
    Add to vegetables all other ingredients.
    Simmer for 25 minutes.
    Pack into jars and seal.
