8 Day Pickles Sweet - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    pickles, cut into chunks
    2 c. salt
    boiling water
    1 Tbsp. powdered alum
    5 pt. white vinegar
    6 c. sugar
    12 cinnamon sticks
    1/3 c. pickling spice
    1 tsp. green food color
Preparation
    Wash and cut pickles into chunks.
    Place in bowl or roaster. (Make use of large pickles.)
    Add salt and 1 gallon boiling water. Let stand for 3 days.
