Spice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 c. applesauce
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves, ground
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Preparation

Mix brown sugar, sugar and applesauce until smooth.
Blend in all remaining ingredients, except nuts.
Mix well.
Add nuts; blend well.
Bake in 9-inch layer pans or 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour.
