Black Walnut Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
5 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. milk
1 c. finely chopped black walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream butter and shortening; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating mixture well after each addition.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
Add to combined cream mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
Stir in vanilla and walnuts.
Pour batter into a well-greased and floured 10-inch baking tube pan.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 35 or 40 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool in pan 15 minutes before removing from pan and cool.
