Scalloped Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. onions
    1 1/2 Tbsp. melted butter
    1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. basil
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1 c. cubed and toasted white bread
    1 (14 1/2 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
Preparation
    Saute onions in butter.
    Add sugar, basil, salt and pepper. Arrange one-half of tomatoes in 1-quart greased casserole.
    Top with one-half bread cubes.
    Repeat layer.
    Bake uncovered at 375\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
