Strawberry Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. berries, measured after capping
    4 c. sugar
Preparation
    Wash berries and combine with 2 cups of sugar; boil for 5 minutes.
    Remove from heat and add remaining 2 cups of sugar. Return to heat and boil 10 minutes.
    Pour mixture into open pan and let stand 2 days or longer, stirring often, before placing in jars. Preserves will be nice and thick.
    Cook only 1 quart at a time, although you may add as many \"runs\" as you like to the pan to stand.
