Vegetable Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. beef
    6 c. cold water
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    6 peppercorns
    2 bay leaves
    1 (16 oz.) pkg. vegetable soup mix
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
Preparation
    In large kettle, combine beef, water, salt, thyme, peppercorns and bay leaves.
    Simmer 3 hours or until meat is tender.
    Remove beef, peppercorns and bay leaves.
    Separate meat from bones. Return meat to soup.
    Add vegetable mix and canned tomatoes. Cover.
    Simmer until vegetables are tender, about 20 minutes.
