Dixie Corn Bread - cooking recipe

1 1/2 cups enriched white cornmeal
3 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
2 cups buttermilk
1 egg
2 tablespoons bacon drippings or melted butter
Preparation

Sift together dry ingredients.\tAdd buttermilk, egg, and drippings, mixing just until dry ingredients are moistened.
Pour into a greased, hot skillet.
Cook in 450 degree oven 20-25 minutes.
Serve warm with butter.
Yields 4-6 serving.
