Christmas Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 pkg. cherry gelatin (2 small or 1 large)
    1/2 to 3/4 c. red hots
    2 (No. 2) cans applesauce
    2 1/2 c. boiling water
    sour cream
Preparation
    Melt red hots in boiling water.
    Add gelatin and stir in applesauce.
    Chill until firm in a ringed mold (8-inch).
    Serve with sour cream.
    Unmold on plate.
    Fill center hole with sour cream and decorate around with holly.
    This salad is especially good served with turkey or baked chicken.
