Chocolate Nut Drops - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. soft shortening
    1 c. brown sugar, packed in cup
    1 egg
    2 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted (2 oz.)
    3/4 c. milk
    2 1/4 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. chopped nuts (or 1 c.)
Preparation
    Mix the first 3 ingredients together thoroughly.
    Blend in chocolate (if using cocoa, use 1/4 cup).
    Stir in milk.
    Sift together and stir in the remaining ingredients (if using self-rising flour, omit soda and salt).
    Stir in nuts.
    Chill dough.
    Drop by teaspoonful about 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheet.
    Bake 10 to 12 minutes in moderately hot oven (400\u00b0). Frost with butter icing.
    Makes 3 to 4 dozen cookies.
