Best Gingerbread Ever - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. mixed butter and shortening
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 c. molasses
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ground ginger
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Cream shortening and butter
    with
    sugar.
    Add\tegg and molasses; beat well.
    Sift\ttogether
    the
    dry ingredients and stir in.
    Add the hot water
    last;\tmix
    well.
    This
    makes
    a very fluid batter.\tPour into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan and bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for
    35
    to
    40
    minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
    When
    cool,
    cut in squares and serve with whipped cream or nutmeg sauce.
    Makes 18 to 20 servings.
