Black Corsicana Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 scant c. sugar
    1 c. vegetable shortening
    1 c. strong coffee
    2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 c. cocoa
    1/2 tsp. salt
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. baking soda
    2/3 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Cream the sugar and shortening.
    Add coffee, vanilla, flour, cocoa and salt.
    Blend.
    Beat in eggs one at a time.
    Dissolve baking soda in buttermilk and add to mixture.
    Divide between three 8-inch cake pans (greased and floured or use Pam).
    Bake for 40 to 45 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Cool and frost with Nancy's Chocolate Icing.
