Pierogi Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 to 12 medium potatoes
    3/4 lb. Velveeta cheese, room temperature and cut up
    2 onions, chopped and sauteed
    1 1/2 sticks butter (use some to grease and also some to saute onions, then melt)
    9 lasagna noodles, cooked
Preparation
    Saute onions in butter (set aside 1/2 amount).
    Cook and mash potatoes, adding only all the cheese and 1/2 the onions.
    In 9 x 13-inch pan, layer noodles (3 on bottom).
    Spread about 1/2 potato mixture, some onions, some melted butter.
    Repeat, ending with 3 noodles on top, melted butter and remainder of onions.
    Cover tightly with foil.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 45 minutes.
    Allow to stand 5 minutes before cutting.
