Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. beef stew meat
    1/4 c. flour
    salt and pepper
    1/4 c. vegetable oil
    1 c. onion, chopped
    dash of garlic powder
    1 c. water
    1 beef bouillon cube
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. basil
    8 small potatoes (large chunks)
    4 carrots (large chunks)
    1 can tomatoes
    1 can mushrooms, sliced
    1 c. frozen peas
Preparation
    Salt and pepper meat to taste; coat with flour, then brown in oil, turning as needed.
    Add bay leaf, onion, garlic powder and water; cover and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally to keep from sticking.
    Add rest of ingredients including remainder of flour. Cover and continue cooking until vegetables are tender.
    Use heavy stew pan or roaster.
