D-D'S Hard Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2/3 c. light corn syrup
    3/4 c. water
    1 tsp. Lorann flavoring
    powdered sugar (optional)
    food coloring
Preparation
    Mix first 3 ingredients in large saucepan.
    Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
    Boil, without stirring, until temperature reaches 310\u00b0 (use a candy thermometer) or until drops of syrup form hard, brittle threads in cold water.
    Remove from heat.
    After boiling has ceased, stir in flavoring and coloring. Pour into lightly greased cookie sheet.
    Cool and break into pieces.
    (Use hammer over wax paper.)
    Shake in bag with xxx sugar.
    Store airtight.
