Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium head lettuce, broken in pieces
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    1 medium onion, sliced thin
    1 pkg. uncooked frozen green peas
    2 c. mayonnaise
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    bacon bits
    grated Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Layer the first 5 ingredients in the order listed.
    Spread the mayonnaise over top of layered ingredients.
    Sprinkle the sugar over mayonnaise.
    Top with grated Cheddar cheese and bacon bits. Refrigerate for 24 hours before serving.
    Serves 16.
