Italian Sponge Cake - cooking recipe

1/2 doz. eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
Preparation

Separate egg whites and put in a large bowl.
Put yolks in small bowl. Beat whites first. Sift 1/2 cup sugar in slowly after the whites start to thicken.
Beat yolks with 1/2 cup sugar and vanilla.
Pour yolks into white. Do not beat.
Fold in (turn spatula or wire whisk over and under).
Egg whites have to stay fluffy. With flour in sifter, sprinkle over batter and fold.
Pour batter into ungreased tube pan (line with wax paper).
Bake 1 hour in a 350\u00b0 oven. Remove from oven and invert pan immediately to cool.
