Southern Fried Pies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    dried fruit, cooked and drained
    3 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
    3/4 c. sweet milk
Preparation
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
    Cut shortening into mixture.
    Add milk gradually, mixing into dry dough.
    Roll out on board to about 1/4-inch thickness.
    Cut into rounds the size of a saucer.
    Place 1 tablespoon fruit in one half of each round, folding remaining half over fruit.
    Moisten inner edge with cold water and press together with fork.
    Brown in shallow fat, turning over until both sides are brown.
