Hoppin' John - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 slices bacon, diced
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen black-eyed peas or 1 lb. can, drained
    dash of pepper
    1/2 c. water
    1 1/3 c. quick cooking rice
    1 1/2 c. water
    1/2 tsp. salt
    Worcestershire to taste
    2 Tbsp. oil
    1 c. chopped onion (about 1 medium to large)
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    1/3 c. long grain rice
    2 1/4 c. water
    3/4 c. lentils
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Coat a heavy saucepan with oil; add onions and cook over medium heat, stirring often, until onions are softened.
    Add garlic and rice, stirring to coat rice with oil.
    Cook and stir 1 to 2 minutes, or until rice is opaque.
    Add water, lentils, salt and pepper.
