Oatmeal Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. boiling water
    1 c. quick cooking oatmeal
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. brown sugar
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/3 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over quick cooking oatmeal.
    Let stand 20 minutes.
    While standing cream together the shortening, sugar, brown sugar, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and salt.
    Add creamed mixture to oatmeal mixture.
    Beat well.
