Beef Cubes Sauerbraten Style - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. chuck beef, cut in large pieces
    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 sticks oleo
    2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. vinegar
    2 c. water
    5 bay leaves
    12 whole cloves
    3/4 c. broken gingersnaps
Preparation
    Brown meat and onion in oleo.
    Add salt, vinegar, water, bay leaves and cloves.
    Simmer 2 hours.
    Add gingersnaps and boil. Serve over noodles or rice.
