Spanish Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. ground beef
    1/2 chopped onion
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 green pepper, chopped
    1/2 c. tomato sauce
    3/4 c. cheese
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 c. rice (cook according to pkg. instructions)
Preparation
    Brown onion, green pepper and meat in melted shortening.
    Add tomato sauce, salt and pepper. Put layer of rice in greased casserole.
    Add a layer of the meat mixture, then a layer of cheese.
    Repeat and end with cheese.
    Brown in 375\u00b0 oven for 20 to 30 minutes.
