Pickled Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large clove garlic
    1 piece bell pepper
    1 piece celery
    1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
    1/4 tsp. alum
    sprig of fresh dill or 1/2 tsp. dill seed
    2 qt. water
    1 qt. vinegar
    2/3 c. canning salt
Preparation
    Bring water, vinegar and salt to a boil.
    Pour hot brine into jars, filling to 1/2 inch from the top.
    Have jar lids in boiling water and seal immediately as each jar is filled with brine.
    Date lids and use in 6 weeks.
